Women in Art
For Metropolitan Members with Opening Nights and Patrons$600 for the three-part course
We have reason to believe that female artists have contributed to the history of art since prehistory, not only as muses, but as creators who fashioned history and defined the arts. The Met collection features great works authored by women. The major artistic movements of the last four centuries reveal the role women played in the definition of modernity. The questions they asked, the life they lived, and their dialogue with their male colleagues will be at the center of our investigation. This will be an up-close introduction to a female-centered art history.
Two Thursdays and one Wednesday, 9:30–11:30 am
